The gloom and the haze that surround us could not dampen the spirits of the youngsters who participated in the inter school competition on creative use of recyclable materials for primary schools ..13 teams from 8  primary schools took part in this event .. This is a part of an initiative by REACH to foster environmental awareness among our local children ..The children  impressed all of us with their amazing work .. There was no dirth of creativity as well as functionality as they proudly displayed and explained their models ….hats off to all of them for a job well done !!!!
We at REACH  also took a few minutes promote the CHBAR… .The goal of this organization is to create smoke free zones in our towns in Cameron highlands .. This will help to protect the public from the dangers of exposure to second hand smoke ..Dr Lai who is the volunteer in charge of this campaign got a very enthusiastic response from the youngsters who cheered her on as she got them to take a BOLD stand against smoking …

At the end of the program we at REACH were very overwhelmed by the response of the youngsters, they never fail to impress ..  GIVING us a reason to feel positive in  bleak times …they recycled almost everything  that would have normally been chucked in the bins and ended up as disposable waste in our overflowing landfills. AS the whole nation struggles and staggers on laboriously plagued by one crisis after the other … I can’t help but wonder about our leaders ??? Frankly most things can be recycled BUT when it comes to people ?  WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY LOSE THEIR RELEVANCE??? They SHOULD GRACIOUSLY EXIT OR RETIRE…They must not continue to hang on precariously to their positions  sometimes disregarding the great cost to the nation !!!!!! Doing whatever it may take to stay in power almost forgetting that nothing is permanent ….and  what cannot be recycled has to eventually go …..:((( till we meet again in cyberspace .,,,,,
