RAIN RAIN GO AWAY…..
Dark rain clouds cast a shadow on my beautiful hills …Rain rain go away come again another day…..Like every year the monsoons have arrived, a bit late but they are here to stay..Not A day goes by without the rain coming..long before you know it the sky becomes tar black, large clouds suddenly gather and within minutes the RAIN begins to fall in crazy chaotic drops ..It could be a light stubborn drizzle lasting hours ….or a heavy down pour…leaving the land refreshed the droplets of water hanging on the trees and leaves, the mountains glistening in vivid shades of green..BUT unfortunately we in Camerons, also tend to wait with baited breath after every bout of heavy rain for news of landslides or even other catastrophes like floods and road closures .. ONE day driving up with my son at night I was quite worried as the visibility was very poor and the rain heavy ..Fortunately all went well..WE took a slow drive up and the only thing that marred an otherwise smooth drive was the condition of the road…ITS been more than a year since the floods had devastated our town…THE whole year we waited in vain for the relevant authorities to carry out their routine maintenance work….. UNTIL a few years ago, overhanging branches would be cut, drains cleaned and ROAD repairs undertaken..not just before the monsoon season but on a regular basis throughout the year… BUT now sadly we the residents have to just depend on mercy from natural elements for our safety and that of the people in our district.. THE locals who have taken a beating the whole year with the unfortunate events in Camerons ….wait in anticipation for the school holidays in order to recover some of the losses incurred throughout the year..IT’S indeed a shame that Camerons which is an immensely popular tourism destination both with the locals and the foreigners is neglected in such a harsh and callous manner by our authorities….AS always, I hope that this too will pass…THE various departments will be nudged from their indifference into taking concrete preventive measures to keep Camerons safe during the monsoon, and carry out their work more diligently… AS I write the sky is once again covered by a thick blanket of dark rain clouds, either the strong winds will carry them adrift over the mountains …OR they will burst into rain..Then once again the sun will filter through and light up my beautiful hills…IN ANTICIPATION of sunny days …… travel safe everyone!!!! until we meet again in cyberspace…
